Industrial Rubber Mixing — Compounding

What is Compounding?

Industrial rubber mixing, or “compounding,” is the blend of science and art in combining rubber with fillers, vulcanizing agents, and additives that enhance performance, to achieve specific physical, chemical, and mechanical properties. This process plays a crucial role in producing materials capable of withstanding extreme conditions, providing chemical resistance, or offering flexibility and durability across various industrial applications.

We specialize in creating custom compounds that not only meet stringent industrial standards but also effectively address your specific operational needs. Whether it’s high-temperature resistance or elasticity under pressure — our compounds are designed with precision and reliability.

Blended Rubber Compounds

Pre-mixed rubber compounds serve as the foundational materials in the rubber industry and form the basis for a wide range of products across many sectors. They are produced by combining carefully formulated rubber polymers with specific additives designed to enhance the properties and performance of the material itself.

Colored Rubber Compounds

Thanks to our unique mixing techniques, we successfully produce a full spectrum of colors, ensuring excellent dispersion, consistent shades, and a high level of purity.

With a record of over 2,000 formulations, we are confident that we have the right types of compounds for every application. After each colored production batch, we perform thorough cleaning of our equipment.

Compound Formulation According to Your Requirements

Many manufacturers who use rubber compounds in their production processes entrust us with their mixing needs. Essentially, we operate as their own in-house mixing department.

This approach brings numerous benefits — from cost-effectiveness to consistently high quality, which we ensure through precise systems, skilled and trained personnel, and continuous investment in cutting-edge technology.

Custom Rubber Compound Formulations

As one of the few companies fully dedicated to producing rubber compounds tailored to your specifications, we work closely with you to consistently deliver top-quality products, backed by exceptional technical support and customer service.

Our customized compound manufacturing services enable the creation of formulations that provide innovative solutions even for the most demanding applications.

We have the expertise and capacity to deliver technically complex solutions in small batches and, when needed, scale them up for mass production without compromising on quality.

Ultra-Clean Colored Compounds

Colored compounds are produced in a specially equipped facility dedicated exclusively to coloring. The coloring plant in our factory features an exceptionally clean workspace, ensuring color stability. Black rubber is not produced at this location, meaning the area is completely free of soot and other potential contaminants that could compromise color quality.

This dedicated facility for colored compound production is fully committed to high cleanliness standards — enforcing strict cleaning protocols, organized storage, and precision in every segment of the process.

Steps in the Rubber Compounding Process

1. Polymer Feeding

The rubber mixing process begins with the introduction of polymers, which serve as the fundamental building blocks in rubber compounding. The choice of polymer lays the foundation for the material’s performance and determines its basic properties.

2. Sequential Addition of Ingredients

While the polymer has the most significant impact on the compound’s characteristics, additional ingredients are included to define properties such as vulcanization behavior, processing performance, cost efficiency, color, resistance to degradation, and much more. These ingredients include fillers, plasticizers, vulcanizing agents, accelerators, and other additives.

3. Achieving Compound Homogeneity

The ultimate goal of the process is to achieve complete homogeneity. Uniform and thorough blending of all ingredients creates a unique and consistent rubber compound. A homogeneous compound ensures stable properties throughout the entire production, vulcanization, and application of the finished rubber products. This is achieved by carefully balancing four key mixing parameters according to the specific compound requirements, while simultaneously considering the chemical interactions between the ingredients.

Forms in Which It Is Delivered

In addition to precise and carefully executed compounding, the form in which the rubber is supplied also plays a significant role in the efficient production of finished parts. Various supply forms are available, such as slabs, calendered sheets (plates), and strips for automatic dosing, offered in different sizes.
